But how does the card compare to other no-fee credit cards, and is it available across Canada? Learn more in our full review.
Who’s the More Rewards RBC Visa Infinite card for?
This card is well-suited for More Rewards members living in Western Canada who frequently shop at Save-On-Foods and other More Rewards partner stores. In addition to earning More Rewards points on various purchases, the card comes with gasoline discounts at Petro-Canada and basic insurance coverage.
Throw in a decent welcome bonus, and you have a solid offer for a no-annual-fee credit card. I don’t recommend this card if you live in Eastern Canada, as More Rewards partner stores are primarily located in the west. Note that the card is not available to residents of Quebec.
Pros
-
No annual fee (a rarity for a Visa Infinite card)
-
Purchase protection and extended warranty
-
Mobile Device Insurance
-
Earn as much as 3.4% toward travel rewards
-
Gasoline discounts at Petro-Canada
Cons
-
High minimum income requirement
-
No complimentary travel insurance coverage
-
Hold little value if you don’t shop at More Rewards partner locations
-
Partner stores are only located in Western Canada
-
Not available to residents of Quebec
More Rewards RBC Visa Infinite welcome offer
Earn 30,000 welcome More Rewards points upon your first purchase. Plus, 20,000 bonus More Rewards points when you spend $500 in qualifying purchases in the first 3 months.
When you spend with your More Rewards RBC Visa Infinite card, you’ll earn points at the following rates:
- Earn 8 points for every $1 spent at over 700 partner locations.
- Earn 8 points for every $1 spent on gas, EV charging and dining.
- Earn 4 points for every $1 spent on all other purchases.
Important! Note that your More Rewards RBC Visa Infinite Card must be linked to your More Rewards card number to earn points.
- You can redeem your More Rewards points in several ways, including for travel, groceries, gift cards, exclusive experiences and charitable donations. All you need to do is log in to the More Rewards online portal and choose your desired redemption option.
- You’ll get the most value (up to a 3.4% earn rate) if you use your points to book travel, such as flights, hotel stays, etc., through the More Rewards travel portal, which is powered by Expedia.
- When you use your points to pay for groceries at Save-On-Foods or other partner stores, you’ll receive $15 for every 10,000 points you redeem. This equates to an earn rate of 1.2%, which is not bad for a no-annual-fee card, but is not best-in-class.
- Earn rates vary when you redeem points for gift cards or other experiences. For example, you could purchase a $50 Best Western gift card for 27,000 points, equating to a 1.5% return. It’s more valuable than a grocery redemption but far less than booking a flight or hotel.
More Rewards RBC Visa Infinite cardholders can enjoy the following benefits:
- $0 annual fee
- Earn bonus points for groceries, dining, gas and EV charging
- Redeem points for groceries, travel, gift cards, experiences and charitable donations
- Access Avion Rewards benefits, including gas discounts at Petro-Canada locations
- Exclusive perks available through RBC Offers
Insurance coverage is limited for a Visa Infinite product, but it’s understandable given that it’s a no-fee credit card. You get purchase security, extended warranty and mobile device insurance coverage. Here’s a closer look at both coverages:
- Purchase security and extended warranty: Eligible card purchases are protected against loss, theft, or damage for a period of 90 days following purchase. You will also receive double the manufacturer’s original Canadian warranty. The extended warranty is limited to one additional year and a maximum of five years.
- Mobile device insurance: If your mobile device is lost, stolen, accidentally damaged or breaks within two years of purchase, you will receive coverage up to $1,000. Of course, you must have used this credit card to purchase the mobile device.

The Tangerine World Mastercard is a no-fee credit card from one of Canada’s leading digital banks. The card offers flexible cash-back rewards. You can pick your cash back spending categories of your choice and unlock a bonus category if you elect to have your rewards deposited automatically into a Tangerine Savings account.
Spending categories include groceries, restaurants, gas, entertainment and more. Like the More Rewards RBC Visa Infinite, the card comes with mobile device Insurance, but it also has rental car collision/loss damage insurance, a valuable perk. If you shop at More Rewards partner stores and redeem your points primarily for travel, it may be the better card for you. Otherwise, the Tangerine World Mastercard is a more flexible card.

The Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite is a premium credit card that offers valuable Scene+ points, no foreign transaction fees, complimentary airport lounge passes and up to eight types of travel insurance coverage. However, while it has much more to offer than the More Rewards RBC Visa Infinite, it also comes with a hefty annual fee.
If your monthly spending is low and you won’t fully utilize the Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite card’s travel benefits, the annual fee likely isn’t worth it. However, if you’re a frequent traveler who will take advantage of its comprehensive insurance and premium perks, it can be well worth the cost.
